We're Going Green, on the Greens - with the Clutch & 'eCo' Range!

The number one priority of Clutch & Co HQ when we designed their new range was to be able to offer something sustainable, ethical, and environmentally friendly to its customers. In late 2020, Clutch & Co welcomed two styles of the Clutch Eco Polo that consist of 45% recycled plastics, or 6x600ml recycled water bottles created into one polo.

Responsible fashion is the way forward and Clutch & Co wants to do our part for a greener future and that’s why we will continue to grow the Clutch & Eco range by using recycled materials.

Time to take the range finder out of the bag and zoom in on this thing called recycling a little closer. While recycling water bottles and plastic is not new, using it to create polyester is starting to garner more interest from manufacturers. So how is recycled plastic turned into polyester? Well, it is a little technical, but the process involves liquidized zinc oxide spinning technology in yarn form. The recycled yarn is created from PET plastic water bottles. By application in yarn form, it reduces the additional chemicals, energy use, and our overall carbon footprint!

Polyester is the most used fabric in the world. Recent reports dated from 2019 suggest that 52% of the fabrics produced in 2019 were polyester, 14% of that was manufactured using recycled materials[1]. With demand only increasing for the fabric globally, why not turn to currently the best alternative, polyester made from recycled materials.

Clutch and Co’s founder, Dom Tyson did not have to look far to see other brands making waves in the industry for their pledge towards responsible fashion. One of Dom’s great mates Nick Pearce is the founder of HoMie, a Melbourne-based streetwear/ not-for-profit organization. HoMie has recently launched its Reborn range of upcycled clothing where all designs have been crafted from unused samples/materials. The whole industry is on notice, and it is looking for solutions.

When it comes to being Eco-Friendly there is no perfect method, but it is about doing your bit, no matter how big or small. Clutch & Co is giving you another chance to do your small bit towards a greener future by supporting The Clutch Eco Polo range when out on the course.

The double benefit of the Clutch Eco range lies within the quality – the Clutch & Co Eco range has maintained the rich and soft polyester feel we are all accustomed to. All the additional features of moisture management, anti-wicking, UPF 50+, and anti-bacteria plus many more are still incorporated!
